Guided Dirt Bike Tours
Leadville sits in the middle of fabulous dirt bike terrain and most of it is empty. The guided day rides string together single track, the old mining roads that lace both ranges, and the private ranch, at a pace the guide sets to the group. Bring your legs: it is a full day at altitude.
Bikes are current model year KTMs. Fuel, guide, instruction and on-trail support are included. Rent a full protection kit or bring your own. Previous dirt bike experience is required; this is not the place to learn the clutch.

The terrain
Two ranges, a century of mining roads, and a ranch.
The Mosquito Range rises straight out of the east side of town, the Sawatch out of the west, and both are cut with roads and trails the miners left. The ride mixes tight trees and creek crossings low down with loose, exposed climbs above treeline. The private 1,000-acre ranch adds open ground nobody else rides.
The same shop keeps the KTMs running and helps the local women's riding group with bike work on Tuesday nights. If something on your own bike needs attention before the ride, bring it in.

Questions people ask before they book
Do I need dirt bike experience?
Yes. The dirt bike tours are for intermediate to expert riders and previous dirt bike experience is required. The terrain is real mountain single track and mining roads at 10,000 to 12,000 feet. Newer riders, or mixed groups, should look at the UTV tour instead.
What bikes do you ride?
Current model year KTMs. Tell us your height, experience and what you usually ride and we will match the bike.
Can I bring my own bike and gear?
Yes. Ride your own bike if you prefer, and bring your own gear if you have it. Complete personal protection kits are available to rent if you do not.
How long is the tour?
All day, guided and supported. Fuel and on-trail support are included. Bring a hydration pack; the air is thin and dry and you will drink more than you expect.
Where do the rides go?
Single track and old mining roads around Leadville, plus the private 1,000-acre ranch, chosen by the guide for the group's skill and that day's trail conditions. Expect creek crossings, rock, and long climbs with big views.
When is dirt bike season?
Once the trails dry out and the snow leaves the high country, generally June through early October. The first storms of fall close the top.
